racially and ethnically diverse, including Indigenous peoples native to the Americas, descendants of African and European heritage, and immigrants from Asia and the Middle East.

In Richmond, Latino/x residents have long played a vital role in shaping the city’s identity, economy, and civic life. The City of Richmond is proud to celebrate this heritage and recognize the contributions of community leaders, artists, educators, and organizers who uplift and preserve Latin American traditions.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Richmond and San Pablo co-hosted the second annual Fiestas Patrias celebration, featuring a parade beginning at Barrett Avenue and 23rd Street in Richmond and culminating in a vibrant festival at 13873 San Pablo Avenue. The event commemorated the many Latin American Independence Days celebrated in September and the cultural richness and diversity of Latino/x communities.

It was free, family-friendly, and widely attended by residents from both cities.

The proclamation affirms the City of Richmond’s commitment to honoring the diverse racial and cultural identities within Latino communities. It also recognizes the organizers of Fiestas Patrias 2025 for their dedication to creating a joyful, inclusive, and educational celebration that brought together families, neighbors, and civic leaders.

By formally Latino Heritage Month and the Fiestas Patrias event, the Richmond highlights the importance of cultural preservation, community engagement, and cross- city collaboration. This proclamation serves as a public expression of gratitude and pride in Richmond’s multicultural heritage.
