STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
National Manufacturing Week is celebrated annually
across the United States to recognize the manufacturing industry’s role in driving innovation, providing quality jobs, and supporting local and national economic growth. The
City of Richmond is home to a strong and diverse
manufacturing sector that contributes significantly to the city’s economy, workforce opportunities, and community
resilience.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: PROCLAMATION recognizing and celebrating National Manufacturing Week from October 6 to October 10,
2025, in the City of Richmond – Mayor’s Office (Mayor

DISCUSSION:
Manufacturing is a cornerstone of the U.S. economy and a vital part of Richmond’s local economy. Richmond’s manufacturers produce a wide range of goods, including advanced technology, clean energy components, food products, and industrial materials. This diversity demonstrates the city’s leadership in both innovation and sustainability.

The proclamation reaffirms the City of Richmond’s commitment to supporting equitable economic opportunity, celebrating the achievements of its manufacturing community, and encouraging residents and community partners to join in honoring their contributions.
