DISCUSSION:
The Department of Public Works, Parks & Landscaping Maintenance Division, is seeking the establishment of a standing Purchase Order (P.O.) for playground equipment ongoing replacement needs. Examples of parts to be purchased include playground components such as slides, swings, and climbing structures. The parks with Kompan equipment are playgrounds on the Richmond Greenway including Unity Park.
For the Kompan play structures and outdoor fitness equipment installed in the City of Richmond Parks, Kompan California, Inc. is the sole source vendor distributor that can provide replacement parts made by the manufacturer. Having an annual P.O. in place with the appropriate vendor will support timely turnaround on material purchases that will result in timely repairs to the playground equipment for the use of the public, ensuring safety compliance, and adhering to equipment warranty requirements to reduce liabilities.
