WEST CONTRA COSTA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
1108 Bissell Avenue | Richmond, CA 94801-3135 Office: (510) 231-1170 www.wccusd.net Cheryl Cotton Kim Moses, Ed.D. Superintendent Associate Superintendent, Business Services November 12, 2025 Lashonda White City of Richmond 450 Civic Center Plaza Richmond, CA 94804 Dear Ms. White, The West Contra Costa Unified School District is proud to educate the students of Richmond, CA. We are committed

to

serving

our

families

and

communities

with

high-quality

programming,

and

we

are

intentional

in

our

strategies

to

engage

our

students

and

families

in

a

meaningful

way.

We

are

excited

that

Stege

Elementary

School

is

being

reconstructed

to

provide

new

school

facilities

for

our

Richmond

children

and

families.

However,

currently,

the

students

and

families

of

Stege

have

been

temporarily

relocated

to

the

DeJean

Middle

School

campus

while

the

new

Stege

campus

is

under

construction.

To serve our Stege residents most effectively and to ensure that our school-sponsored after-school program is accessible

to

all

students

and

families,

we

respectfully

ask

for

your

partnership

and

support

to

provide

these

services

at

the

Booker

T.

Anderson

Community

Center

located

in

the

Stege

Community.

We

believe

the

location

is

critical

to

having

students

engage

in

after-school

activities,

given

the

distance

of

the

temporary

campus.

We

also

ask

for

the

city

to

consider

allowing

our

use

of

the

BTA

Community

Center

as

an

in-kind

service.

Currently,

our

district

is

addressing

a

structural

deficit

and

working

towards

fiscal

solvency

in

our

multi-year

budget

plan.

The

fees

associated

with

the

public

rental

exceed

what

we

can

afford.

As

a

result

of

our

budget

deficit,

we

are

asking

that

the

fees

for

the

school

year

2024-25

and

2025-26

be

waived

for

the

facility

use.

Our

district

is

more

than

willing

to

offer

in-kind

facilities

use

permits

for

the

city

of

Richmond,

as

requested

during

this

school

year.

Thank you for considering this request. If you have any questions or would like to address this matter further,

please

don't

hesitate

to

contact

us.

Sincerely, Kim Moses, Ed.D. Associate Superintendent, Business Services
