STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
There is an ongoing need to have contracts in place to
assist with the search for specialized positions. City staff is seeking to amend the exiting contract with Bob Murray & Associates to assist in this effort.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE a contract amendment with Bob Murray &
Associates to increase the payment limit by $34,000 for a total payment limit of $68,000, and extend the term
through December 31, 2026, for the purpose of
conducting recruitments for specialized positions -

DISCUSSION
The value of external recruitment services is well-recognized. The City frequently relies on outside consultants to manage specialized and complex recruitment processes.
These consultants excel at sourcing candidates, possess extensive knowledge of the job market, and have the capacity to reach potential candidates nationwide. They typically have the resources, bandwidth, and expertise necessary to successfully fill specialized roles. Additionally, these consultants can provide guidance on job descriptions and salary recommendations, offering suggestions for edits that help achieve optimal recruitment outcomes when job openings are announced.
The City currently holds a contract with Bob Murray & Associates for the purpose of recruiting specialized positions and seeks to amend the current contract to allocate additional funds and extend the term. Bob Murray & Associates is a recruitment agency with a strong reputation and a proven track record in specialized recruitment. They possess extensive experience in recruiting for specialized and high-profile roles that may involve managing multiple stakeholders and other unique considerations.
The City has an existing contract with Bob Murray & Associates and is pleased with their responsiveness, service, and professionalism.
RECOMMENDATION
City staff are seeking City Council approval to amend the contract with Bob Murray & Associates increasing the payment limit by $34,000 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $68,000 and extending the term of the contract to December 31, 2026, to ensure continued expert support for our specialized recruitment needs.
