STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
The City Council’s authorization is required to establish the salary range for the City Attorney classification by amending the salary schedule.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
ADOPT a resolution amending the salary schedule to
add the salary range for the City Attorney classification – Human Resources Department (Nickie Mastay/Sharrone
Taylor 510-620-6602).
DISCUSSION:
City Attorney
On December 16, 2025, City Council appointed an interim City Attorney while the City conducts a City Attorney recruitment. The City Council granted the interim City Attorney AGENDA

an annual salary of $341,391.60. A resolution must be adopted by City Council to amend the salary schedule to increase the range for this classification.
NEXT STEPS:
City Council approval is required to amend the publicly available salary schedule. City staff recommend approval of the resolution amending the salary schedule to amend the salary range for City Attorney effective January 1, 2026. Once approved, an entry will be made on the salary schedule to amend the salary range. The attached resolution will amend the salary schedule in the following manner:
