This remembrance is not only a tribute to the victims and survivors but also an opportunity to reflect on the moral responsibilities of individuals and societies to prevent genocide and to vocally condemn it. Mayor Eduardo Martinez, representing Richmond's City Council and its residents, proclaims January 27, 2026, as a day for the people of Richmond to mourn the victims of the Holocaust and to reaffirm their commitment to respect, human dignity, and justice for all.
