STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Shahzaib Shahid is applying to a vacant seat on the
Planning Commission
RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPOINT Shahzaib Shahid to the Planning Commission with a term that expires on June 30, 2028 – Mayor’s
Office (Mayor Eduardo Martinez 510-620-6503).
DISCUSSION:
Shahzaib Shahid is a Richmond resident of 17 years and currently works as an engineering intern while completing his studies in civil engineering. He has a strong interest in serving on the Planning Commission to support thoughtful land-use decisions and to help implement the City of Richmond’s General Plan. Mr. Shahid highlights his academic background and municipal internship experience as assets that would allow him to bring a practical perspective focused on infrastructure, constructability, and long-term maintenance. He believes this technical viewpoint can contribute to well-informed planning decisions that benefit the community.
