STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
The purpose of this agenda item is to recognize and
honor the Richmond Steelers dance team, Rich Girlz, for their outstanding achievement of earning 1st Place at the JAMZ National Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada,
and being crowned National Champions.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
PROCLAMATION honoring the Richmond Steelers Rich
Girlz for their national championship achievement and
recognizing their excellence, leadership, and positive
representation of the City of Richmond - Councilmember
Jamelia Brown (510-412-2050).
DISCUSSION:
The JAMZ National Championships is a nationally recognized competitive dance event that brings together elite youth teams from across the United States.

In 2026, the Rich Girlz of the Richmond Steelers traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they competed on a national stage and earned 1st Place in their division, securing the title of National Champions. This accomplishment represents a significant milestone for the team and brings pride and purposeful recognition to the City of Richmond.
The Richmond Steelers organization is a homegrown, Richmond-based program that reflects the talent, discipline, and resilience cultivated within Richmond’s youth and community programs.
