A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND TO ACCEPT
AND APPROPRIATE A GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY, AND ADJUST APPROPRIATIONS BY $137,058 AND ADJUST EXPENDITURES BY $137, 058 IN THE 2025-2026 LIBRARY BUDGET
WHEREAS, the Richmond Public Library receives funds from the California State Library every year to support California Library Literacy Services for adult learners who desire to improve their reading and writing skills; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of the City of Richmond 2025-2026 operating budget, the Richmond Public Library estimated that it would receive $115,000; and
WHEREAS, the California State Library awarded the Richmond Public Library $137,058 instead of the estimated amount of $115,000; and
WHEREAS, the additional grant funding of $22,058 will be able to provide literacy education and literacy activities to Literacy For Every Adult Program (LEAP) adult learner and family literacy participants; and
WHEREAS, this grant funding will continue adult learner services at the Richmond Public Library’s adult literacy program, LEAP.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Richmond hereby accepts and appropriates the grant award from the California State Library in the amount of $137,058 for use by the Literacy for Every Adult Program (LEAP).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement and certify related grant reports.
