The Ferry Point Sewer Pump Station project is nearing completion. The initial portion of the project was completed in 2023. After months of close coordination with the engineer of record and the General Contractor, the City of Richmond was able to successfully redesign a pump station that is both functional and acceptable to the residents; Final Completion is anticipated by mid-October.
When construction started up again this past June, the City and Veolia were resolved to complete the project with the remaining authorized funding, and Veolia worked with the Contractor to keep within the remaining Council authority. As negotiations continued, however, the added scope of construction costs were higher than anticipated (see attached Change Order 2 cost summary). The Contractor submitted a credit for their remaining contract amount of $136,050 to offset the change order cost. Veolia accepted this credit offer with the understanding that it would enable the project to remain within existing authorization. However, after the change order was executed, it was discovered that while the credit offset the change order costs, the amount of $136,050 still remained in the original contract value. As a result, the project cost has exceeded the original project authority by $131,366.80.
Therefore, in order to complete the project, we respectfully request an increase in project authority by that amount, augmenting the total authorization from $2,732,742 to $2,864,108.
