A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF PLANT MATERIALS FOR
CITYWIDE LANDSCAPING, BEAUTIFICATION, AND VEGETATION
RESTORATION FROM BLUE ANGEL INTERNATIONAL LLC FOR A THREE- YEAR TERM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $300,000, WITH AN OPTION
TO EXTEND FOR TWO ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR TERMS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $100,000 PER YEAR
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining landscaped areas across the City including parks, medians, public rights-of-way, and restoration areas; and
WHEREAS, these efforts require the ongoing purchase of nursery plant materials including trees, shrubs, and groundcover to support park beautification, right -of-way landscaping, and vegetation restoration projects throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, a competitive bid solicitation issued through the City’s BidsOnline System reached 197 vendors for the supply and delivery of plant materials; and
WHEREAS, the City received one responsive bid from Blue Angel International LLC, and staff determined the su bmitted pricing to be reasonable and competitive with current market pricing for nursery plant materials; and
WHEREAS, Blue Angel International LLC demonstrated the ability to provide plant materials meeting California Nursery Stock Standards and provide delivery to City facilities and project locations as required for City operations; and
WHEREAS, establishing unit pricing through this solicitation allows the Public Works Department to procure plant materials on an as -needed basis to support ongoing land scaping maintenance, beautification efforts, and vegetation restoration throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, funding for this purchase in the amount of $300,000.00 for the three-year term and $200,000.00 for the two optional one -year extensions is available in the approved Public Works Operations and Maintenance budgets supporting parks and landscaping maintenance activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richmond approves the purchase of plant materials from Blue Angel International LLC for a three-year term in an amount not to exceed $300,000, with an option to extend for two additional one -year terms in an amount not-to-exceed $100,000 per year.
