RESOLUTION NO. ______
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,
CALIFORNIA, TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE LUNCH AT THE LIBRARY
FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,000
WHEREAS, the California State Library makes Lunch at the Library funds available to California public libraries to support youth enrichment and literacy activities at community summer meal sites; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond Public Library applied for Lunch at the Library funding for summer 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond Public Library has been awarded $9,000 by the California State Library for Lunch at the Library 2026; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the purchase of giveaway books for distribution at summer meal sites to encourage the building of home libraries; and
WHEREAS, Richmond Public Library staff will visit community meal sites to create library cards, raise awareness of library programs including Summer Reading, and provide other activities and programs supporting literacy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Richmond hereby accepts $9,000 in Lunch at the Library 2026 grant funds from the California State Library and appropriates the funds to the Library’s fiscal year 2025-2026 budget; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Richmond authorizes the City Manager or their designee to execute grant agreements and certify grant reports related to the Lunch at the Library 2026 grant.
