National Public Works Week is observed annually to highlight the important role public works professionals play in maintaining and improving the infrastructure that communities rely on every day. These professionals are responsible for the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of essential public systems, including roads, water and sewer systems, parks, facilities, and other critical city infrastructure.
In the City of Richmond, public works staff play a vital role in ensuring public safety, supporting mobility, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. Their work is often behind the scenes but directly impacts the reliability, safety, and sustainability of city services.
This proclamation recognizes and expresses appreciation for the dedication, expertise, and service of public works employees who continue to support the City’s infrastructure and long-term resilience.
