STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Aleena Ornelas is applying to serve on the Richmond
Youth Council.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPOINT Aleena Ornelas to the Richmond Youth Council to fill a vacated seat, for a term ending December 31, 2027 – Mayor’s Office (Mayor Eduardo Martinez 510-
620-6503).
DISCUSSION:
Aleena Ornelas is recommended for appointment to the Richmond Youth Council. She is a dedicated member of the Richmond Fire Youth Academy, where she has participated for four years in community workouts and service activities that support AGENDA

youth development and civic engagement. She currently serves in a leadership capacity as an administrator for YouthWORKS, further demonstrating her commitment to youth empowerment and community involvement.
Ms. Ornelas has maintained a strong academic record, earning a 3.6 GPA or higher and remaining on the honor roll since 7th grade. She is also actively engaged in extracurricular activities, including her school’s Student Ambassadors Club, Latino Club, and Medical Club, reflecting a broad commitment to leadership, cultural engagement, and service-oriented interests.
