A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING A SIDE LETTER BETWEEN THE CITY OF RICHMOND AND THE
RICHMOND POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION REGARDING FIELD TRAINING
OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the Richmond Police Department has a policy describing its Field Training Officer (FTO) Training program, and the City of Richmond (City) and the Richmond Police Officers Association (RPOA) have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) providing compensation for officers assigned to the FTO program; and
WHEREAS, the City has negotiated in good faith with the Richmond Police Officers Association (RPOA) regarding changes to both the policy and the MOU;
WHEREAS, the parties have executed a Side Letter to the MOU describing those changes; and
WHEREAS, the Side Letter shall not bind the parties until it is ratified by a majority of the RPOA and ratified by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of the Side Letter will support a stable and amicable labor relations environment in the City; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Richmond hereby authorizes the execution of the Side Letter attached hereto as Exhibit A to this resolution.
