STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Aubrey Mcdonald-Tate is is being considered for
appointment to the Richmond Fund for Children and
Youth Oversight Board as the youth representative for
Council District 6, upon the recommendation of
Councilmember Jimenez, who represents District 6. Each
Council district is represented on the Board by one youth member and one adult member
RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPOINT Aubrey Mcdonald-Tate to the Richmond Fund for Children and Youth Oversight Board as the youth
representative for Council District 6, upon the
recommendation of Councilmember Jimenez, for a term
ending December 2, 2027 - Mayor’s Office (Mayor
Eduardo Martinez 510-620-6503).

DISCUSSION:
As someone who grew up in Richmond and comes from a family of Richmond natives, Ms. Mcdonald-Tate has a deep personal connection to the community and a firsthand understanding of what it means to grow up as a young person in Richmond. Her experiences as a Richmond youth have shaped her desire to give back and contribute to creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation.
Ms. Mcdonald-Tate is interested in serving on the RFCY Oversight Board because she wants to make a difference in the lives of Richmond youth and believes that the Board’s work can have a meaningful impact on the community. Her vision for Richmond youth is to help create spaces where young people can be creative, innovative, and empowered to pursue their interests and achieve their goals. Her personal connection to Richmond, combined with her commitment to supporting young people, would allow her to bring a valuable community and youth-centered perspective to the Oversight Board.
