STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT: A Resolution Of The Ridgecrest City Council Adopting The 2023 City Of Ridgecrest Standard Details For Public Works Construction PRESENTED BY: Travis Reed, Public Work Director
SUMMARY:

City Staff, per council agreement in 2021, hired Quad Knopf Inc. (QK) to re-develop the City design standards.

The existing City Design Standards were in dire need of updated. The last time standards were updated was in 1986.

Staff went back and forth with QK and developed standards that we feel are sufficient to prevent future un-necessary maintenance for City Staff. Staff updated, cross gutter design, sewer man holes, paving sections and added key elements such as EV charger installation standards, ADA standard space drawings, trash enclosures etc.

This comprehensive update is ready for Council approval. Staff is still working on updating the narrative that will go along with these standards, but that is unnecessary for approval.

With this approval, staff is also asking council for the approval of staff to modify the standards on an as needed basis. This will prevent the need of a future major overhaul and allow us to update them on an ongoing basis.

FISCAL IMPACT: 0$
ACTION REQUESTED:

1. The City of Ridgecrest Standard Details for Public Works Construction, 2023 Edition in Exhibit A are hereby approved, and incorporated herein.

2. The Director of Public Works or designee is hereby authorized to approve and adopt future amendments to the Standard Details as required.

STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT: Proposed Approval Of Additional American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds To Replace The Park Roofs Located At The Leroy Jackson Sports Complex And Upjohn Park PRESENTED BY:

Nerissa Wegener, Parks and Recreation Director
SUMMARY:

On January 5, 2022, the City Council approved the replacement of the roofs on the concession building located at Leroy Jackson Sports Complex and the restroom building and gazebo located at Upjohn Park (resolution #22-03). During this time, staff presented the original estimate that was received for this project of $52,118. During the process we requested an updated estimate and the project has now increased due to inflation costs as seen with many other projects.

This project consists of replacing the roof on the concession/bathroom building at the Leroy Jackson Sports Complex which is over 25 years old and is in very poor condition. We will also be replacing the roofs on the bathroom building and gazebo located at Upjohn Park. The roofs will all be replaced with metal roofs to reduce future maintenance costs and increase longevity.

Staff is requesting that the City Council approve the increase of $6,922 and authorize the Finance Director to allocate the funds from the ARPA allocation.

FISCAL IMPACT:
