City Council

Ripon, CA 95366
MEMO
To: Honorable City Council
From: Kevin Werner, City Administrator
Date: 01/11/2022
Subject: City Council Committee Roles and Responsibilities RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council to approve the resolution establishing the roles and responsibilities for Ripon City Council committees.
BACKGROUND:
Every January, the Mayor recommends to the City Council assignments for individual Council Members to serve on various Commissions, Boards, Task Forces, and Committees, which is ratified by the City Council. Typically, the assignment to Commissions, Boards, and Task Forces allows Council Members the opportunity to serve with elected officials from other organizations to discuss important local and regional matters.
Committee assignments are typically more focused on Ripon matters and therefore made up of Council Members and City staff. The City of Ripon currently does not have a policy in place that defines the roles and responsibilities of these committees. Based on a recent discussion with the City Council, staff prepared the attached resolution that includes an exhibit that states the role of the City Council Committees, Operational Guidelines, and Role of Staff.
