Subject: Planning Commission Appointment
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
This resolution approves appointing Steve Stevenson (currently serving as alternate) to Seat No. 3 on the Planning Commission and Jeff Veilleux to Seat No. 6 as an alternate on the Planning Commission.
BACKGROUND:
On December 14, 2021, Planning Commissioner Gary Barton was appointed to the vacant seat on the City Council. With this appointment, an opening was created on the Planning Commission.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
As provided in the Ripon Municipal Code, the Mayor directed staff to advertise for Planning Commission applications. Following the review of the applications, five individuals were scheduled for interviews, including:
Jeff Veilleux
Darrel Nelson
Kathy Van Slyke
Steven Verver (did not show)
David Murphy (did not show)
The Mayor’s selection committee, which consisted of the Mayor, Councilmember Barton and the Planning Director recommends that Steve Stevenson (currently serves as an alternate) is appointed to Seat No. 3 and appoint Jeff Veilleux as an alternate to Seat No. 6 on the Planning Commission.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIPON CERTIFYING THE APPOINTMENT AND TERM TO
FILL A PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY
WHEREAS, the City of Ripon is desirous of filling the existing vacancies on the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, the persons being appointed have expressed their interest in serving on the Planning Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Ripon as follows:
PLANNING COMMISSION:
Appoints as a voting member to a 4-year term:
Steve Stevenson Seat 3
Appoints a new member to a 1-year alternate seat:
Jeff Veilleux Seat 6 (alternate)
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Ripon this 8th day of March, 2022, by the following vote:
