DISCUSSION:
Additional potholing was necessary to adhere to PG&E internal standards, which were brought up by the PG&E Stand-By personnel on site as the project approached the grading and electrical trenching operations. The change order covers for the additional costs for potholing every 50 feet above the PG&E transmission line per PG&E requirement.
An existing industrial sewer manhole at the south end of Stockton Avenue was found to be within the new curb and gutter alignment. Due to this issue, the manhole had to be removed.
The conduit for the future streetlights at the East Fourth Street and Second Street intersections needed to be upsized from a 1” conduit to a 4” conduit to allow for space for the necessary street light cables.
Additional asphalt was found buried underneath existing soil on Stockton Avenue. These areas will need additional demolition work to remove the asphalt, which differs from the original assumption of gravel demolition.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached Change Order No. 9 is in the amount of $40,076 and will be funded through the Sewer Enterprise Capital Fund ($950) and Measure K ($39,126).
