Subject: Basecamp Environmental, Inc - Senior Center
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement with BaseCamp Environmental, Inc. to prepare NEPA compliance documents for the Ripon Senior Center Retrofit project (funding source: CDBG funds).
BACKGROUND: For several years now the City of Ripon has been earmarking CDBG funds towards a retrofit project at our Senior Center. The project includes a covered outdoor patio/seating area, along with a façade improvement for the front of the existing Senior Center.
Because the project is using CDBG funds for the project, which come from HUD (federal funding source), the project must comply with the National Environmental Policy Act and go through a NEPA assessment. In order to cover NEPA compliance for the project Staff reached out to BaseCamp Environmental Inc. to provide those services for this project. BaseCamp Environmental has assisted the City with several other projects requiring NEPA compliance and is very qualified to perform this service. Staff is recommending that we contract with BaseCamp to provide our NEPA clearance for this project.
FISCAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact to prepare the NEPA documents for the Ripon Senior Center Retrofit project will be covered by the City of Ripon’s CDBG funds for that project.
