Subject: Claim - Mara Salomon
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
The City’s claim administrator has investigated the submitted claim and is recommending the City Council accept the claim.
BACKGROUND:
Mara Salomon submitted a claim to the City of Ripon on June 29, 2021 for damage done to her RV, which was hit by a garbage truck when the RV was parked on Elm Ave. She has submitted a claim for $6,724.60.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The City’s claim administrator, Doug Redifer, reviewed the claim submitted along with photos and the City’s internal accident report and found the liability is adverse to the City.
The individual who filed the claim has been communicating with the City’s claim adjuster on the repairs and subsequent costs. This process has taken some time because the vehicle is a recreation vehicle that requires specialized parts. Because the claim amount exceeds the City Administrator’s authority of $5,000, it is being recommended the City Council authorize the payment of this claim.
