Subject: Grand Jury Response - Draft
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Discuss response to Grand Jury Case No. 0321 for Superior Court of California, County of San Joaquin regarding Cybersecurity: Local Defense Against a Global Threat and provide direction to staff.
BACKGROUND
The 2021-22 San Joaquin County Grand Jury has published Case No. 0321, “Cybersecurity:
Local Defense Against a Global Threat” (see attached). In the published case the Grand Jury has made Findings and Recommendations to each entity surveyed within the county. The City of Ripon’s suggested responses are here to be reviewed and discussed prior to formal submittal.
DISCUSSION/RESPONSE
The San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury report requires a response from the Ripon City Council on the report’s recommendations before December 31, 2022. Staff has prepared a draft letter to the Grand Jury (see attached file “DRAFT City Council Response to Grand Jury”) responding to each recommendation that is applicable to the City of Ripon.
Staff is requesting input from the City Council on the draft response to the Grand Jury.
Following the discussion at the November City Council meeting, staff will finalize the letter and bring back for City Council approval at the December City Council meeting.
