Subject: Ripon Network Security Plan
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt the City of Ripon Network Security Plan prepared in response to the 2021-22 San Joaquin County Grand Jury Case No. 0321, “Cybersecurity: Local Defense Against a Global Threat”.
BACKGROUND
The 2021-22 San Joaquin County Grand Jury has published Case No. 0321, “Cybersecurity:
Local Defense Against a Global Threat”. In the published case the Grand Jury has made Findings and Recommendations to each entity surveyed within the county. A recommendation that The City of Ripon develop, adopt and implement (1) Business Continuity Plan, (2) Disaster Preparedness Plan, and (3) Ransomware Attack Preparedness Plan.
DISCUSSION/RESPONSE
The City of Ripon has addressed each of these elements and incorporated into a single Network Security Plan. This combined document provides steps to mitigate risks of interrupted data processing telecommunications service and/or support service capabilities, continued evaluation of systems and procedures in case of an adverse event, evaluation of network security measures and processes for data recovery, if needed.
