Subject: Animal Shelter Cabinet Replacement Contract
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract with Culinary Stainless Fabricators to purchase and install replacement cabinets for the City Animal Shelter in the not to exceed amount of $28,976.95 (funding source: General Department Capital Fund).
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The existing City Animal Shelter was constructed in 2003 and it has been widely used by the community over the past 20 years. There are a number of areas within the shelter in need of replacement, including cabinets in the food prep/wash room, interior and exterior doors and the flooring in the office and storage spaces.
The attached contract with Culinary Stainless Fabricators is to install lower and upper cabinets in both the food prep/wash room and the euthanasia room. These rooms are washed down regularly and staff recommends installing stainless steel to avoid similar deterioration of the cabinets in the future.
Staff is obtaining additional proposals to replace the existing doors and flooring and will present them to the City Council for consideration at a later date.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached maintenance project has a not to exceed cost of $28,976.95, which will be paid for through the General Department Capital Fund.
