Subject: Animal Shelter Door Replacement Contract
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract with Vaughan Construction to purchase and install replacement doors for the City Animal Shelter in the not to exceed amount of $32,808.80 (funding source: General Department Capital Fund).
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The existing City Animal Shelter was constructed in 2003 and it has been widely used by the community over the past 20 years. There are a number of areas within the shelter in need of replacement, including cabinets in the food prep/wash room, interior and exterior doors and the flooring in the office and storage spaces.
The attached contract with Vaughan Construction is to remove and install new doors throughout the facility. The rooms are washed down regularly and staff recommends installing heavy duty industrial fiberglass doors to avoid similar deterioration of the doors in the future.
The cabinet replacement project was approved at the January 2023 Council meeting and fabrication for the cabinets is underway. Staff is obtaining additional proposals to replace the flooring in the office and storage spaces and will present a contract to the City Council for consideration at a later date.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached maintenance project has a not to exceed cost of $32,808.80, which will be paid for through the General Department Capital Fund.
