RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept the donation of $3,396.75 from Rick and Valerie Van Unen for the Ripon Police Department staff to purchase defensive tactics training and fitness mats.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the nature of police work, law enforcement personnel are at significant physical interaction with suspects and at risk for wellness issues. The defensive tactics training and fitness mats will allow the department to provide safe and appropriate weaponless defensive training and create an environment for safe physical fitness training.
Rick and Valerie Van Unen will make a monetary donation for the purchase of the training mats that will be charcoal gray and measure by 6’x20’x1 5/8”. The department will add our police officer badge logo to the mat at a cost of $400.
FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to the City’s General Fund does not exceed $400 for the addition of the police officer badge logo to the mat.
