MELINDA KOPP

RIPON MEMORIAL LIBRARY
WHEREAS, Melinda Kopp has served the Stockton San Joaquin County Public Library System for 23 years. Melinda has done her job with admirable kindness, dedication, and a passion for showing the community the power of reading; and
WHEREAS, Melinda began her career with the Boston Public Library in 1984 and was hired as the Branch Librarian for the Ripon Memorial Library in 1999; and WHEREAS, a library is an essential part of every community and Ripon has had the pleasure of having Melinda as part of their library for 23 years; and WHEREAS, Melinda created and led the All About Babies program for over 15 years and is responsible for introducing hundreds of young children to the world of reading and working to instill a love of reading in all ages with her kind encouragement; and WHEREAS, during her time at the Ripon Memorial Library, Melinda's dedication to her work has been an inspiration to those around her. Her love for books has fostered a warm and inviting atmosphere in the library, which has been greatly appreciated by both staff and patrons. Melinda's hard work and commitment to creating a welcoming environment have not gone unnoticed; and WHEREAS, Melinda has consistently demonstrated her passion for reading and her vast knowledge of genres with her delightful comments on books being checked out or returned. These qualities bring a special touch to library, making it so much more than just a building that houses books. The Ripon Memorial Library, because of Melinda, has become a home for those whose hearts seek adventures, solace, and knowledge through the magic of reading.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ripon would like to gratefully acknowledge Melinda for her humble dedication and true love of the Ripon Memorial Library and her community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council wishes Melinda a happy retirement filled with laughter, family and afternoons with a good book.
