MEMO
To: Honorable City Council
From: James Pease, Public Works Director
Date: 07/11/2023
Subject: Well 19 Pump Station Change Order 4
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Approve Change Order No. 4 to paint the Well 19 pump control building in the not to exceed amount of $4,999.46 (funding source: Water Enterprise Capital Fund).

BACKGROUND:

The Well 19 Pump Station Project was awarded to Soracco, Inc. at the September 14, 2021 City Council meeting for an amount of $1,761,590.50. The first phase of the Well 19 project included the construction, development and testing of the well at Mistlin Sports Park. The Well 19 Pump Station Project consists of installing a Potable Water Pump Station and Site Improvements necessary to incorporate the well into the City potable water system.

At the January 11, 2022 City Council meeting, Council approved Change Order No. 1 in the not to exceed amount of $8,865.33 for the demolition of existing 10-inch irrigation line and increase in materials and labor to install the new 10-inch irrigation line.

At the May 20, 2022 City Council meeting, Council approved Change Order No. 2 in the not to exceed amount of -$11,850.79 for replacing an existing water valve, adjusting for existing utility conflicts, upgrading building doors and decreasing the overall size of the wellsite.

At the September 13, 2022 City Council Meeting, Council approved Change Order No. 3 in the not to exceed amount of $86,012.23 for the installation of a generator tap box needed to power the well site with a portable generator and for the abandonment of two agriculture wells no longer in use.

DISCUSSION:

The original design of the Well 19 pump control building did not include painting the concrete masonry block walls. During the 2022/2023 rainy season the inside of the pump control building experienced moisture seepage. Staff is recommending the exterior of the pump control building be painted to seal the block and prevent unwanted moisture entering the building. The color to be used will match the existing structures at the Mistlin Sports Park.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The attached Change Order No. 4 is in the amount of $4,999.46 and will be funded through the Water Enterprise Capital Fund.
