City Council
259 N. Wilma Avenue
Ripon, CA 95366
MEMO
To: Honorable City Council
From: Daniel Sauer, Chief of Police
Date: 11/14/2023
Subject: Service Agreement - Absolute Software, Inc.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement with Absolute Software, Inc. for mobile connectivity software, a three-year term not to exceed $6,000 annually (funding source: General Fund).

BACKGROUND:

The Ripon Police Department is looking to improve the existing connection to our Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) by integrating Netmotion from Absolute. Netmotion is a mobile connectivity software that will replace the current solution employed by the department. The current solution is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that is outdated and limits the Officer’s ability to connect to our main servers.

By employing Netmotion, our Officers will have access to a greater set of features that will allow for ease of use and efficiency improvements in their daily duties. Netmotion is considered an industry standard amongst many other Law Enforcement Agencies.

Some of the benefits are as follows:
 Allows Officers to complete reports while in the field  Allows Officers to complete Stop Data collection via AB953 while in the field  Allows IT to deploy and utilize iRIMs 6 (cad system)
 Gives IT greater amount of control over how the MDT’s connect to our network  Removes filters that prevent certain functions on the MDT’s FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact will be $6,000 annually for three years funded by the General Fund.
