Subject: Stanislaus River Bike/Pedestrian Bridge Update BACKGROUND:
On October 22, 2023, a large tree located on the Ripon side of the Stanislaus River fell onto a segment of the Stanislaus River Bike/Pedestrian Bridge causing significant damage. The tree was removed immediately to relieve the weight and a structural engineer was contracted to perform an assessment. According to the analysis performed by the structural engineer, the bridge in its current condition must remain closed for the safety of the public due to the risk of failure.
Staff will discuss repair and funding options for the Stanislaus River Bike/Pedestrian Bridge moving forward.
