DISCUSSION:
The Fleet Maintenance Facility Project has the following contract changes:
Power to Flush Valves: The original bid included toilets with automatic flush. The original bid package did not account for power to these automatic flush units. The automatic flush valves require circuits, cable, and a panel to be installed to supply power to the automatic flush units. The additional cost related to this change is $12,964.
Landscape Credit: The original bid package included a small area to be landscaped. It was determined that the area was satisfactory as is and does not need to be reconstructed.
The contractor has issued a credit for the cost of all labor and materials associated with this work. The amount of credit issued for this change is $3,501.
Credit for Change Order 8 error: The Skylight material credit approved in Change Order 8 was previously agreed upon in the sum of $1,779. The Change Order 8 showed a credit of $2,256. To offset this error, the cost of $477 dollars will be added.
The additional work is to be billed at a cost not to exceed $9,940.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached Change Order No. 9 is in the amount of $9,940 and will be allocated to the Corp Yard AB1600 Fund (47.0%), Water, Sewer and Storm Enterprise Capital Funds (15.8%) and General Capital Fund (37.2%). The amended construction contract price is shown in Table 1.
Table 1 – Current Contract Price
Amount
Original Contract Price $ 11,156,000
Change Orders (1-9) $ 548,701
Current Contract Price $ 11,704,701
On December 13, 2022, City Council approved the total cost of the Fleet Maintenance Facility Project which included $1,115,600 for construction contingency. Change Order No. 1 did not utilize the project contingency because the work was performed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant disposal ponds. The total remaining contingency after subtracting Change Orders No. 2 through 9 is $855,521.
