Subject: Senior Center Rehabilitation Project
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Reject the bid from Diede Construction Inc. and authorize staff to re-bid the project.
BACKGROUND:
On July 23, 2024, the Senior Center Rehabilitation Project bid was opened. Only one bid was received, as summarized below:
Diede Construction, Inc. $745,848.00
The bid submitted is 104% higher than the Engineer’s Estimate of $365,000.
The City has the right to reject any or all bids for any reason, as stated in the bid proposal. It is recommended that the City reject this bid and authorize staff to re-bid the project. Prior to the second bid period, staff will survey contractors familiar with this type of work and attempt to determine the reason for the lack of interest in this project.
