Subject: Community Center Tennis Courts Equipment Purchase RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the purchase of four Douglas PPS-22SQ Premier Portable Pickleball Net Systems for the Community Center Tennis Courts in the not to exceed amount of $10,339.69 (funding source: Parks and Recreation Capital Fund).
BACKGROUND:
On October 8, 2024, the City Council awarded the construction contract to Consolidated Engineering Inc and also approved a budget of $25,000 to be allocated for the City to provide professional grade portable pickleball net systems.
The improvement plans include striping for multi-use courts – 4 tennis courts or 8 pickleball courts. The tennis netting system that is being installed is permanent, but the pickleball net system is planned to be portable so anyone can move the netting system into and out of place on the courts, depending on the planned use.
DISCUSSION:
Staff requested a quote from Pickleball Central for the purchase of four Douglas PPS-22SQ Premier Portable Pickleball Net Systems. The package includes the post and base frames, hardware, transporter, and netting for a complete net system. A flier with additional details on what is included in the net system is attached.
Staff is recommending the City Council approve the purchase of the net systems for the Community Center Tennis Courts Project in the not to exceed amount of $10,339.69.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached quotation from Pickleball Central in the amount of $10,339.69 will be allocated to the Parks and Recreation Capital Fund (balance: $3.2 million).
