Subject: Fleet Maintenance Facility Flag Pole and Flag Purchase RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the purchase of a flag pole and flag for the Fleet Maintenance Facility in the not to exceed amount of $13,180 (funding sources: Corp Yard AB1600 Fund, Enterprise Capital Funds, and General Capital Fund).
BACKGROUND:
As part of the Fleet Maintenance Facility Project budget, the City Council approved $500,000 to be allocated for City furnished items at the December 13, 2022 City Council meeting. The following items have been previously approved by the City Council as part of the City furnished items:
Office and conference room furniture: $41,443.88
Mobile Vehicle Column Lifts: $171,182.85
Computers/Network Equipment/Security Firewall/Monitors: $9,228.03 SCADA main server equipment relocation: $34,090.00
Total to Date: $255,944.76
DISCUSSION:
The original Fleet Maintenance Facility design included the installation of a 25’ flag pole with a 5’x7’ flag. Staff explored a potential change order with the contractor to increase the size of the flag and height of the pole although an agreeable cost was never reached, the City elected to take a $5,288 credit and remove the original flag pole from the contract. The decision was made with the intent of purchasing and installing a larger pole and flag in the future.
The attached quote from Patriot Flagpole includes a 50’ flag pole and 15’x25’ flag along with lighting and miscellaneous accessories. City staff will perform the installation which will cost approximately $5,000 for material (concrete, rebar, forms, etc.) and staff time to pour the foundation and erect the flagpole.
Staff is recommending the City Council approve the quote from Patriot Flagpole to purchase the flag and pole for the new Corporation Yard in the not to exceed amount of $13,180.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached quote from Patriot Flagpole in the amount of $13,180 will be allocated to the Corp Yard AB1600 Fund, Enterprise Capital Funds, and General Capital Fund.
