Subject: Service Agreement - TELEPATH
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the General Services Agreement with Telepath Corporation in the annual not to exceed amount of $56,197.80 for radio maintenance services for the Police Department (funding source: General Fund).
BACKGROUND:
The City of Ripon entered into a service agreement with La Rue Communications on November 9, 2021. La Rue Communications was responsible for maintenance and repairs on all police department radios and equipment, which includes portable radios, mobile in car radios, base stations, repeaters, receivers, and dispatch consoles. The City of Ripon was in contract with La Rue Communications in the annual amount of $54,516.
Knox La Rue, the long-standing owner of La Rue Communications, has officially retired as of February 1, 2025. Mr. La Rue has personally recommended Telepath Corporation as the successor to manage and oversee the radio maintenance responsibilities. After careful review and discussion, our staff has met with Telepath Corporation and recommends that the City Council consider approving the attached agreement.
The City of Lathrop and City of Escalon Police Departments, which currently receive dispatch services from the Ripon Police Department, will also be transitioning to Telepath Corporation for their radio maintenance services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The maintenance of the communications equipment was considered as part of the Dispatch Agreements with the Cities of Lathrop and Escalon. The City of Ripon’s General Fund will be reimbursed for 54%, or $30,346.81 of the contract amount, through these agreements.
