MEMO
To: Honorable City Council
From: Kevin Werner, City Administrator
Date: 05/13/2025
Subject: First Amendment to MCR Engineering Services Agreement RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with MCR Engineering to provide construction inspection services for the Meadowood Subdivision Project in the not to exceed amount of $50,000 (funding source:
Meadowood Subdivision Development Fees).
BACKGROUND:
At the July 11, 2023 City Council meeting, Council approved the Professional Services Agreement with MCR Engineering in the not to exceed amount of $30,000 to provide construction inspection services for various construction projects on an as-needed basis, in the not to exceed amount of $30,000.
Since that agreement was executed, no funds have been expended.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The Meadowood Subdivision Project has started construction of the underground and surface improvements that will be dedicated to the City of Ripon. The Engineering Department, whose staff inspects this work to ensure compliance with City standards, currently has a vacant position.
Staff has requested an amendment from MCR Engineering to supplement Engineering Department staff and provide inspection services for the Meadowood Subdivision Project. The proposed amendment to the July 11, 2023 Professional Services Agreement would increase the contract amount from $30,000 to $80,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with MCR Engineering outlines the time-and-materials cost for construction inspection services at designated hourly rates. The amended agreement has a not-to-exceed amount of $50,000, bringing the total contract amount to $80,000.
This expense will be funded by the Meadowood Subdivision Project development fees.
