Subject: Siegfried Engineering
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the professional services agreement with Siegfried Engineering to provide civil design services for the North Ripon Road / River Road Intersection Project in the not to exceed amount of $125,000 (funding source: Transportation PFFP Capital Fund).
BACKGROUND:
The traffic at the intersection of River Road and North Ripon Road is currently controlled by stop signs in all four directions. The City of Ripon is planning to improve the intersection by moving forward with the River Road/North Ripon Road Signalization Improvement Project (the “Project”), which includes installing a traffic signal and necessary transition lanes on River Road and North Ripon Road, as shown in Figure 1.

This Project will provide the following benefits:
Optimize the operations of the intersection to reduce travel delay. Enhance safety of the intersection.
Reduce air quality impacts by coordinating operations with other traffic signals on River Road.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
In order to complete the proposed improvements for the Project, staff has requested the following proposals:
Fehr & Peers – traffic signal and signage/striping design services (separate agenda item).
Siegfried Engineering – civil improvements design services.
The Siegfried Engineering proposed scope of work, as outlined in the attached Exhibit A, includes:
Topographic & Boundary Survey
Schematic Design
Design Development
Construction Documents
Project Management & Coordination
FISCAL IMPACT:
The proposed agreement with Siegfried Engineering is for a not to exceed amount of $125,000, which will be funded through the Transportation PFFP Fund. The current balance of this fund is $3 million.
