Subject: Senior Center Rehabilitation Project Change Order 1 RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Change Order No. 1 in the not to exceed amount of $2,000 for the removal of a tree conflicting with location for proposed improvements at the Senior Center (funding source:
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)).
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Senior Center Rehabilitation Project is to provide various improvements to the exterior of Ripon’s Senior Center. This includes the installation of a new shade structure, improved facing and paneling, installation of new doors for access to the shade structure, and new landscaping and irrigation.
The project was awarded to Estate Design and Construction, Inc. at the November 12, 2024 City Council meeting for an amount of $348,000. The City Council budgeted $388,000 for this project with $421,967 available in the CBDG fund at that time.
DISCUSSION:
Staff identified a tree in conflict with the proposed location for a bike rack and concrete pad and requested Estate Design and Construction submit a scope and fee for the removal. A summary of the work to be performed and the associated costs is provided below:
Tree Removal: Remove existing tree and remove all roots to allow for installation of the proposed bike rack and concrete pad. The additional cost associated with this change is $2,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The attached Change Order No. 1 is in the amount of $2,000.00 and will be funded through the CDBG Fund. The amended construction contract price is shown in Table 1.
