Greetings!

The California State Library is pleased to inform you that your library is eligible for $27,500 in funding to acquire technology and equipment to help confront the digital divide that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Southern California Library Cooperative (SCLC) and the State Library are partnering together to bring this opportunity to all CIPA compliant California Libraries. This opportunity comes from American Rescue Plan Act funds.

Libraries can choose to participate in this program in 1 of 3 ways. Any purchases made by SCLC are contingent on supply availability:

* Have SCLC purchase Chromebooks, Hotspots with Data Plans and Accessories and have them shipped to your location
* Have SCLC purchase some combination of Chromebooks, Hotspots with Data Plans and Accessories for you and then also buy similar pre-approved items locally and apply for reimbursement
* Buy similar pre-approved items locally and apply for reimbursement

There are several pieces of information that will be helpful for you in making the decision that is best for your library. You may wish to review these pages:

Next Steps:
2 The most immediate next steps for starting this project is to fill out this survey<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeCnxj3EqNZRk3vVT6OYJlis8g0lcITCRLHhl0F2z1KD grkUw/viewform?usp=sf_link>. Please note that this survey has a firm due date of November 30th. If your library has not completed the survey in that timeline, the funds will be reallocated to other library jurisdictions.

On November 17th at 10 am, the state library will be hosting an ‘office hours’ meeting to answer any pressing questions about the survey. You can register for that with this link.<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZItf-6rpj4rEtfzzvdm9zx0HMvNQ3OG8R0E>

If you did not participate in the Bridging the Digital Divide project from last year (please see the attached email) and want hotspots purchased by SCLC, you will want to be sure to review the terms of service for Mobile Citizen to be sure your library can accept them. If you received hotspots from this project last year, the terms of service should already be acceptable to your library jurisdiction.

If you did not participate in the Bridging the Digital Divide project from last year and want chromebooks purchased by SCLC you will want to be sure that you have your ZTE token. If you need assistance with getting this token, please contact Chris Durr @ [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> – please note, we will not be able to delay purchases of materials because of technical issues in generating a ZTE token.
