STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT:
This project supports Strategic Priority No. 6 – Infrastructure, Mobility and Connectivity and Goal No. 6.2 – Maintain, protect, and improve assets and infrastructure within the City’s built environment to ensure and enhance reliability, resiliency, sustainability, and facilitate connectivity.
It also aligns with each of the five Cross-Cutting threads as follows:
Community Trust – This Project will construct facilities to ensure safe roadway for vehicular traffic as well as pedestrians across the UPRR railroad tracks to reduce the use of train horns at the intersection.
Equity – After the completion of this Project, the train horn will be reduced to allow for minimal disruption to all the neighborhoods surrounding the tracks at Panorama Road. Furthermore, the Project will ensure safe passage across the railroad tracks for all modes of transportation—both vehicular and non-motorized transportation alike.
Fiscal Responsibility – This Project was publicly bid and a construction contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Innovation – This project utilizes the most up-to-date warning devises and sensors to ensure efficiency and safety at the Panorama Avenue rail crossing for all modes of transportation.
Sustainability & Resiliency – This Project utilizes concrete curb, median, and rail panels, aluminum vehicular and pedestrian gates, and LED flashing signals which are considered as the most reliable and sustainable in the industry standards for these applications.
