2 The mission of the Community Po lice Review Commission is to promote public confidence in the professionalism and
accountability of sworn staff of the Riverside Police Department.
This is accomplished by:
• Conducting an independent review of officer-involved death cases and citizen complaints.
• Recommending changes in RPD policy.
• Building community relationships with public outreach efforts.

3 According to CPRC By-laws Article XI, Section One
direct the CPRC to submit a report to the Mayor and
City Council no later than March 31 of each year.
On March 23, 2022, CPRC approved the Final 2021
Annual report and directed staff to submit the report to council.

4 In 2021, the Commission
reviewed and closed a total
of 27 complaint cases
containing 46 allegations.
At year’s end there were a
total of 2 cases with
completed investigations
remaining for the
Commission’s review.

Death (OID) cases in 2021.
• Nine Commission meetings were held in 2021.
• Community Outreach efforts were significantly
impacted by CDC restrictions during the pandemic.
