As we pre
pare for another State of the City Address by Mayor Marquez, it is also that time of year again to make your selection for the distinction of Unsung Hero. As in past years, we will honor and recognize one Unsung Hero as selected by each of yo
u for a total of 5 Unsung Heroes. A few of you have mentioned that you have a person in mind, however, please be so kind as to respond to this email to confirm the person you are nominating.
Based on previous years, the person you nomi nate should be:
A resident and contributor to Chino Hills in some capacity (teacher, coach, volunteer, non‐profit, whatever...) Someone who has stepped up to make Chino Hills a better place to live in some way This individual shouldn’t be an individual who has garnered much press (hence “unsung”) This in
dividual CANNOT be a current elected or appointed local official such as a Congressman, Senator, Assemblyman, County Supervisor, Council Member, Commissioner, School Board member, or Fire Board member, etc.
The above is based on comments and guidance from each of you from day one and over the years.

A short write‐up (can be a few bullets points) as to why you believe the person is worthy of your “Unsung Hero” recognition
Doing this will provide Community Relations staff with the information we need to find out more and develop the script to honor the individuals.
Please be discreet and do not tell the individual of your recommendation, or the public. When the time is right and closer to the event (beginning of May), I will be contacting the person to explain our intentions. I will then find out more detailed information; request pictures and/or video of them doing what they are being recognized for; and to let them know that YOU plan to highlight and honor them at the State of the City event on Tuesday, May 31st. If anyone wants to make that first notification, just let me know and we can certainly have you do it if you prefer.
