PRESENT: Mayor Lock Dawson and Members Cervantes, Perry, and Conder ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: Donesia Gause and Eva Arseo
Mayor Lock Dawson called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.
ORAL COMMUNICATION FROM THE AUDIENCE
There was no one wishing to address the Committee.
2021 CITY SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS
Following discussion, it was moved by Member Perry and seconded by Member Conder to (1) forward all the nominations presented in the staff report for City Council consideration; (2) request that each nominating party submit a list of accomplishments or reason for their nomination(s) to the City Clerk's Office to be included in the staff report to the City Council; and (3) recommend that the City Council select a member(s) for the 2021 City Spirit Award to honor their extraordinary deeds and community spirit, good citizenship, and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the City. The motion carried unanimously.
REVIEW CITY SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS Following discussion and without formal motion, the Committee directed staff to provide nominating process options for a City Spirit Award or other awards of recognition for (1) the Mayor and the Councilmembers submit one name for consideration/recommendation to City Council; (2) set a firm deadline for submitting names to the City Clerk; and (3) include a paragraph on the reason and accomplishment for the nomination at the time of submission.
