7 • The cost to upfit vehicles in the Police
Fleet varies depending on the
necessary customizations and
equipment.
• For example, the Black and White
Police Pursuit vehicles cost
approximately $16,000 to upfit, whereas
the K-9 units cost approximately
$18,000.

DISCUSSION - COST
RiversideCA.gov
8 The increase of the annual amount from $400,000 to $550,000 is needed because:
• There are currently 30 new B&W Police Pursuit vehicles waiting to be upfitted. This is a total of approximately $470,000 which leaves $70,000 to upfit the remaining vehicles.
• The cost of raw materials has increased due to market volatility. • There continues to be a shortage of readily available vehicles in the Police Fleet so it is crucial that the new vehicles get upfitted and put into service as soon as possible.
• These measure Z funds are being used to ensure Police Vehicles are available to provide the highest level of Public Safety.
