Re: Request for referral to the City Council of the DEC Director's approval of a Grading Exception for the above named project
On June 4, 2025, FRH received an email sent by City of Riverside Principal Planner Brian Norton informing us that the DEC Director had approved a grading exception for this project (as listed in Mr. Norton's email), subject (within 10 days) to appeal to the Planning Commission or referral by a City Councilmember to the City Council.
In view of the importance to all the citizens of Riverside of the protection of the City's named Arroyos, including the Alessandro Arroyo that is intruded into by the extensive grading in this project, we ask you, as a Riverside City Councilmember, to refe r the said approval to the City Council for a hearing thereon. For a list of issues concerning the project that FRH is concerned about and would like to have considered by the City Council, please see the attached copy of a letter previously sent about th e project, for which the extent of proposed grading does not appear to be significantly changed from the time of the said letter. In particular please note the pictures in that letter.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Please keep us informed as to what happens regarding the project.
Thanks,
Friends of Riverside's Hills, by Richard Block, its VP and Legal Liaison
