SUBJECT: BOARD AND COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATION ISSUES:
Appoint William C. Hundley II to the Community Police Review Commission Ward 5 seat, David R. Lofthouse to the Airport Commission Ward 7 seat, Georgina Ramirez to the Cultural Heritage Board Ward 7 seat, and file the resignation of Ron Shirley from the Human Relations Commission Ward 7 seat.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Mayor and City Council:
Appoint William C. Hundley II to the Community Police Review Commission Ward 5 seat for a term through March 1, 2028; Appoint David R. Lofthouse to the Airport Commission Ward 7 seat for a term through March 1, 2029; Appoint Georgina Ramirez to the Cultural Heritage Board Ward 7 seat for a term through March 1, 2029; and File the resignation of Ron Shirley from the Human Relations Commission Ward 7 seat effective immediately.
BACKGROUND:
Riverside City Charter Section 802 provides that each board and commission have one representative from each Council Ward.
Pursuant to Resolution 24076, Section XIV (A), Councilmember Mill recommends that the Mayor and City Council appoint William C. Hundley II to the Community Police Review Commission Ward 5 seat for a term through March 1, 2028.
Councilmember Hemenway recommends that the Mayor and City Council appoint David R. Lofthouse to the Airport Commission for a term through March 1, 2029, and Georgina Ramirez to the Cultural Heritage Board for a term through March 1, 2029, Ward 7 seats.
On Monday, July 28, 2025, the City Clerk’s Office received a resignation from Ron Shirley. Mr. Shirley held the Ward 7 seat on the Human Relations Commission for a term expiring on March 1, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Recruitment and appointment costs are included annually in the City Clerk’s budget.
