SUBJECT: UPDATE THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.04 TO AMEND CITY COUNCIL MEETING FREQUENCY - ORDINANCE ISSUE:
Amend Riverside Municipal Code Section 2.04.010 updating the City Council regular meeting schedule RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council introduce and subsequently adopt an ordinance amending Section 2.04.010 of the Riverside Municipal Code updating the regular meeting schedule of the City Council to reflect the changes noted in Resolution 24318.
DISCUSSION:
On October 21, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 24318 establishing Rules of Procedure and Order of Business that included language addressing the City Council meeting schedule with regular meeting schedule. The new excerpt in Section D: City Council Meeting Schedule reads ‘Regular meetings of the City Council shall be held on the first four Tuesdays of each month. There shall be no meeting on the fifth Tuesday of the month’ It further states the ‘For the months of July and August, meetings shall occur on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. There were no other revisions made to the meeting schedule provision.
Therefore, City Council shall consider adopting an ordinance updating the Riverside Municipal Code Section 2.04.010 in accordance with Resolution No. 24318 City Council Rules of Procedure and Order of Business to reflect the revised meeting schedule.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this report.
