Mission
Nine members act in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council in all matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement, and maintenance of the Airport.
1. Ensure Commission Representation and Participation
• Ensure all represented wards are present at Airport Commission meetings by maintaining a recorded commissioner attendance rate of 85%.
2. Support Safety and Compliance Initiatives
• Review and provide input on significant airport safety, compliance, and operational matters represented to the Commission, including those related to FAA grant assurances, Airport Plan updates, and Safety Management initiatives. • To support this charge, establish an ongoing commissioner education initiative to ensure common understanding of safety and compliance requirements.
3. Enhance Community and Stakeholder Engagement
• Review current outreach feedback mechanisms (e.g. tenant surveys) to assess data usability, potential actions, and needed changes moving forward.
4. Increase Accountability
• Encourage Commissioner participation in airport-related activities. i. Establish a calendar of events for commissioner sign-up.
Ii. Add an informal reporting mechanism for commissioners to share event observations as part of the Commission agenda.
